A New Point of View

i Light Singapore

i Light Singapore is Asia's leading light festival, transforming Marina Bay and its surrounding precincts through a curated showcase of light art installations. For the 2025 edition, we were commissioned to develop the festival’s key visual, translating the curatorial theme, “To Gather” into a distinctive visual identity. Following its successful launch, we were invited to continue evolving the visual identity for the festival’s 2026 edition.

A New Point of View

The brief was to create a key visual that reflects the spirit of togetherness and collective joy embodied by “To Gather”, while showcasing Marina Bay’s skyline and key landmarks where the installations would be featured.

Previous editions of the key visual had typically presented Marina Bay from a familiar skyline perspective. We wanted to reimagine the city from a different vantage point. Through our exploration, we landed on a top-down view of Marina Bay, where the city’s landmarks appear gathered around one another in a shared space, almost as if huddled in embrace. This visual metaphor echoed the theme and captured the festival’s communal energy, warmth, and unity through light and space.

Working with our design collaborator, Lewis Tang, each landmark was individually traced from Google Earth’s top down view before being carefully composed into a balanced representation of the festival precinct. Varying hues of red were layered throughout the artwork to mimic the interplay of light and shadow, adding depth and dimension.

The result was a refreshed visual language that reimagined Marina Bay’s iconic landmarks through a more contemporary and layered lens, creating an identity that felt recognisably Singapore while offering audiences an entirely new perspective of the city.

Same View, New Energy

Building on the visual language established in 2025, the 2026 key visual was conceived as a natural evolution of last year’s key visual. Retaining the distinctive top-down composition of Marina Bay and incorporating newly introduced landmarks, the artwork was refreshed with a vibrant palette of orange and blue hues.

The starting point was dusk: the fleeting transition between day and night when the city begins to transform and the festival comes alive. Inspired by the curatorial theme, “MOVEMENT”, the colours capture this in-between moment, evoking anticipation, energy and the glow of the illuminated artworks that follow.

The shift in palette introduced a renewed sense of atmosphere and dynamism while preserving the recognisable visual framework established in 2025.

A new title lock-up was also introduced and designed with motion in mind. Animated applications brought an added sense of movement to the identity, reinforcing this year’s theme and extending the visual language beyond static executions.

Together, these refinements evolved the existing visual system while giving the 2026 edition its own distinct character and momentum.

Social Media

Beyond the key visual, we developed the festival’s social media content strategy and content plan, crafting a storytelling framework that highlighted the artworks, festival experiences and key campaign moments throughout the season. We also designed selected content adaptations across digital platforms, ensuring the visual identity translated consistently across every touchpoint.
